Posted by Josh Wander Should a gun ban/confiscation take place, a big debate is arising within the gun community. Should we willing hand over our guns?
Now this is not a gun control debate. We are working on the premise that the Second Amendment recognizes/grants Americans the right to bear arms. But, should a government decide to illegally take away our guns, (against the current federal law that was put into place after Katrina – SEE SEC. 557. Title VII of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5201, SEC. 706) theoretically how should we react?
I’ve heard a lot of people talk about how they would be willing to fight to the death to preserve their God given rights. And again, I am not debating if it is a God given right or not, but what action, if any, should be taken if they attempt to take it away from us.
My opinion is that it is good that people are making a statement. It is good that upstanding, law-abiding citizens are sending a clear message that they would be willing to stand up against tyranny. I further believe that by doing so, they do us all a great service, by scaring the political class. The government will be much less likely to enact a gun ban/confiscation if they know that it could lead to a full-blown civil war!
That having been said, it is equally obvious to me that should a SWAT team show up at my door, I am no match and my family and I would be killed in a firefight should we respond with lethal force. I’m suggesting that the prudent thing to do, would be to hide some of your guns (before they come for them) and when they come knocking at your door, symbolically hand over some. This would be the best course of action to preserve your life (which is the idea behind the second amendment in the first place) now and be able to fight the fight later. It’s OK to lose the battle in order to win the war.
What do you think? Is it worth dying for or would the wise move be to retreat and regroup? I would theoretically choose the latter over the former any day.

The sensible thing would be the hide and turn game. Since I’m not sensible, they’re not taking my guns or my Buck Rogers beanflipper.
I too know that a SWAT team will beat me. Possibly at some cost. But ultimatly I would loose. The problem is if I hide the weapons. What is than the trip wire to dig them up and use them? I also don’t have a lot of faith in the cold dead hands crowd to actually get organized enough to do anything. I think the big question is will LE officers and military actually come to take them. I fear the anwser is that enough will. An insurgency would have the most chance of ultimatly winning. But, I don’t currently see good leaders on our side either.
The plan currently is to die in place, I’m not getting out of this life alive anyway – I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees; . But, I’m open to other options.

Bad things happens to Jews when unarmed. My situation differs. If the jackboots were to come aknockin, they would shoot my dog and leave my ex-wife alone, that would get me PO’d…. More seriously, as Solzhenitsyn wrote in The Gulag Archipelago:

We have better things at hand.
You state that you would give up some guns to preserve your life and fight later. When is later and why would that be a better time than now? Is this just to live one more day?
Great questions! I don’t propose to have all the answers and it would clearly depend on the situation. My point is only to create a better strategy than death by cop.

When we hear that confiscation begins, and you hear that patriots are organizing resistance, do you join the resistance?
That is the question.
maybe this depends on the circumstance. How about getting arrested? And winning in court… there are many ways to fight.
google “NFA gun trust”: the 3rd possibility exists to neutralize the law by legal means. if it gets like registering cars, using a a trust at a random address is a no-brainer.
which cops? Pennsylvania or Federal? U.S. is limited to “interstate commerce” jurisdiction… this is another complex issue.

In reply to Farmer, by the time they come to take your guns, they will have destroyed the U.S. Constitution and the law as we know it. There will be absolutely no recourse but to fight or die trying; or become one of the masses who spend their days in fear of being arrested for no reason at all. Read your history. Those who opposed these regimes were always in violation of the “new law of the land”. We have only two choices as I see it. We can risk dying to defend what we believe in or follow like sheeple. For me, being a sheeple is not an option. We cannot serve two masters. And mine is G-d Almighty.
